FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions about Safebirth
What will I have to do?
We will facilitate your journey through a series of techniques which will change the way your memory recalls the birth experience. These are simple and effective and were originally developed for helping war veterans with traumatic memories. They work whether or not you disclose the entire event which is distressing to you. So there is no need to share anything which may upsetting or private with the rest of the group.
How many participants are at your workshops?
We work with small groups and our upper limit is about 15. We will lead and interact with the group and you will work in pairs, coaching one another.
What will be expected of me?
There are no expectations placed on you during the workshop except that you participate as much or as little as you feel comfortable doing.
Can I bring my baby or other children along?
We do not encourage you to bring your baby to the actual workshop. We have designed them so that they are short enough to fit around the needs of a breastfeeding child. It may be possible for us to organise crèche facilities at some of the venues. Please email us and let us know if it is a problem for you.
How many women do you work with in each session?
Our workshops consist of a small group of women, the largest number we will work with is about 14. Most of the work is done in pairs in each session. By working together you learn to coach someone else through the techniques, and naturally you become better at coaching yourself as a result.
Are there any workshops in my area?
At present we are only working in Oxford. If you would like to arrange a workshop in your area please email us at info@safebirth.org
